The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program co-sponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT®. It also gives you a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.
The PSAT/NMSQT measures:
  • Critical reading skills
  • Math problem-solving skills
  • Writing skills

All 10th and 11th graders in CMS will take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. There is NO make up day.

For additional information regarding the PSAT program or testing students with disabilities, please refer to the PSAT Homepage. Students with an IEP or 504/LEP plan will not automatically receive their accommodations. Since this is a national test, College Board must grant approval for any test accommodations. Please note that the review process takes approximately seven weeks from the date of receipt of the complete documentation.

For Home School students who live the the SMHS zone, please contact Ms. Miller for testing information.

PSAT/NMSQT Scores are Coming!
During December 11-13, students who provided their email address on their PSAT/NMSQT answer sheet will receive an email reminder from College Board explaining where and how to view their scores.

If your student does not see their score when they log in, they may need to enter an access code. Students can get their Access Code from our Test Coordinator, Elaine Miller. Codes will not be given out on the phone or via email. Due to score security, a student will need to come to the Testing Office - A107 - to receive their access code.

Paper score reports and the test books will be returned in homeroom on January 25, 2018.

If you have any questions, please contact Elaine Miller at 980-343-3600 or elaine.miller@cms.k12.nc.us
